Second day of April

Quick Write: Interpreting the novel im reading, "How the Garcia Girls Lost their Accents," by Julia Alvarez. Growth and fixed mindset is shown in this novel. The dad of the Garcia family, Carlos shows a growth mindset by deciding to move away to survive with his family instead of living in a country with a dictatorship.

Final Reflection: Theodore Roosevelt once said, "It is hard to fail, but it is worse never to have tried to succeed." I agree with this quote because when someone puts effort into a goal they can either fail or succeed. But when the person fails its hard for them but not as hard for someone who didn't even try. Effort given into a challenge can help to whether fail or succeed. Based on the book Hunger Games this can relate to it because Katniss had struggled to survive the hunger games with her partner Peeta. They gave their all to survive and put so much effort that they eventually won the hunger games.

  1. And yet, someone with a fixed mindset would argue that the reason they failed was because they didn't try....
How about the Garcia girls? Where do they stand on mindset?
